CHRISTMAS MEETING AT SHOREHAM

Views of the lower lawn

The Christmas Season is off and running with our annual VICMOG Christmas BBQ and meeting at Phil and Lyndy’s beautiful home at Shoreham.

The weather was kind and the lower lawn looked magnificent as it filled with Morgans. 2014 has been a great year for our club and this magnificent event helped us come to the years finish on a really high note and we still have our Christmas Lights run yet to go.

The countryside around Shoreham is rather beautiful at this time of the year and it seems to be a favoured place for car clubs’ Christmas BBQs . We noted the Triumph and the Rolls Clubs’ events taking place close by though I seriously doubt they could have topped ours (Well they don’t have any Morgans at theirs do they.) Standing on Phil and Lyndy’s magnificent balcony with the beautiful blue sky above, looking out over a sparkling pool to the wooded hills and beyond, drinking good wine and chatting with good friends, life just does not get much better than this.

An added highlight of the event, as if one were needed, was the first appearance of Peter Ng’s recent amazing find of a 1955 Transitional Plus 4. This car features an early form of the current front of a classic Morgan with the rear end of a Flat Rad with its trademark two spare wheels. The front differs from later Morgans in that it has a shorter cowl and longer grill bars. They are apparently known as “waterfall grill” cars.

This is a very unique, rare and much sort after Morgan and while needing just a little TLC and new set of tyres, it is in surprisingly good condition. Congratulations Peter!

A big thanks are due to Phil and Lyndy for yet again hosting this very special event on our VICMOG calendar. It is really appreciated guys. And thanks also to Phil for laying on the garage tours.
