April Club Meeting at Point Lonsdale

Pt Lonsdale1

On a beautiful autumn Melbourne Sunday morning, around 10am, 6 Morgans gathered in the Service Station car park at the foot of the Westgate Bridge for our run down to John and Annie’s Point Lonsdale home for our April meeting.  Given his previous experience in travelling to this destination, Mr Hewitt was elected to lead us down and we set off.

As planned, we picked up Ron and Jane at the second Point Cook entrance and settled down for a pleasant run down the Geelong Highway with Lindsay and Carol in their drophead coupe at the rear pulling out all the stops to keep up.

At Geelong, Brian took us on the scenic route around the Geelong foreshore and having admired the views we headed out of town and on to our destination. Having finally made Point Lonsdale we then managed to loose Lindsay and Carol in the main street (for coffee and supplies it turned out) but the rest of us made it to John and Annie’s beautiful home nestled amongst the tea trees.

John guided us thru the gate and handed us over to Phil who orchestrated each vehicle through a complicated reversing manoeuvre past trees, fence posts, star pickets, wheelie bins and veranda posts until we were all safely parked on the grass on John and Annie’s block and were catching up with the independent travellers who, with their four Morgans, had already arrived.

Drinks were consumed, the BBQ fired up and lunch soon followed. After lunch a gathering of the VICMOG tribe was held under the shade of an ancient paperbark to discuss matters of importance. John orchestrated a mass bonnet lifting and engines were inspected and analysed. The weather was perfect, the company great and the time just flew by. All too soon we had to tear ourselves away for the long drive home.

A big thank you to John and Annie and Kathy the wonder dog for their marvellous hospitality. It was a very special day.
