The weather on the last Friday of February was perfect for our first monthly RDO Lunch run of 2015. We had 10 Morgans set out from our Todd Road Assembly point, battle over the West Gate Bridge avoiding being squashed by giant B Double trucks and then head for Bacchus Marsh for a coffee stop and to pick up to up another Morgan. We then went via back roads across to Gisborne where we collected three more Morgans then proceeded along beautiful country lanes up the mountain to the Mt Macedon Hotel.
Here we managed to fill the Hotel car park with Morgans which made a great sight and seem to impress the locals as we heard many commenting about the large number of MGs parked outside. I think it is a Morgan drivers lot to explain the difference between an MG and Morgan to the entire population one person at a time.
The Mount Macedon Hotel is a great pub. It has a lovely ambience and its friendly staff made us feel very welcome and very efficiently fed and watered the 24 Morganeers that had suddenly descended upon them. The food here is very good.
After a great lunch, most of the group headed up to Mountain to see the Memorial Cross on its summit then onto an enjoyable blast back down the Calder Highway to Melbourne and its Friday afternoon traffic jams.
