AUGUST MONTHLY LUNCH RUN

First up my apologies for the delay in getting this post up a week after the event. The world has been a little hectic for me of late but as the old saying goes, better late than never so here goes.

August Monthly Lunch Run1

Our August lunch run was to the Pig and Whistle at Main Ridge. With a great turn out, we assembled at Ted and Bev’s beautiful Lysterfield home for a reviving coffee and rather nice cakes (thanks Bev) before hitting the road around the outer edges of Melbourne heading for the Peninsula.

Some of the development going on out here with vast tracts of new housing being built is just amazing. Peter and Heather had sussed out a fascinating route for us and we got in a good solid run through some absolutely stunning country before tackling the twisting road up Arthurs Seat then onto Purves Road and a couple of kilometres down, we reached our lunch destination.

Again Peter and Heather’s great organisational skills were in evidence with an exclusive Morgan car park set aside for us just outside the restaurant’s front door.

The proprietors also took a shot of our cars there which now appears on the Pig and Whistle Facebook page.

August Monthly Lunch Run4

The Pig and Whistle proved to be a great venue for our monthly lunch as there was space for everyone to stand around and chat while we were waiting for our food, chatting being one of the things we seem to be rather good at.

After lunch, we had our traditional five minute meeting to select the destination for our next month’s lunch. I am pleased to announce details of our next run which in accordance with tradition will be on the last Friday in September:

When:            Friday 26th September 2014

Assemble:     10:30 am at the Todd Road servo car park at the foot of the Westgate bridge       heading out of Melbourne

Destination:    The Farmers Arms Hotel Daylesford

RSVP:           Ross Dufty at rossdufty@gmail.com

August Monthly Lunch Run2

The Farmers Arms Hotel is a 150 year old foodie pub on the outskirts of Daylesford. Ross has organized a side room for us with an open fire. Ross has also got an interesting round trip planned for this day through Trentham and Woodend. This sounds like being another fabulous lunch in this very popular series so VICMOG members, if haven’t tried one yet, why not come and join us for this one.
