We are back from a fabulous weekend in the Gisborne region where our Morgans had been chosen as the featured marque in the 13th Annual Great Macedon Grand Tour. Now if you think I am am overdoing the adjectives here I would hasten to mention that the “Great” stands for Gisborne Region Events Activities & Tourism. But in any case the weekend was so good it justifies a couple of superlatives.
We had managed to get 20 Morgans signed up for the Tour which was an amazing total for our small club. As the weekend’s activities covered covered a number of towns, the non local Morgan owners decided to base ourselves in Kyneton and our indefatigable Social Secretary Bill organised a bus to take us from there to the first event which was a very enjoyable dinner on the Friday night at New Gisborne.
Up early next morning, we headed back down the freeway in the breaking dawn light towards Gisborne, breakfast and the Tour start point.
There 20 Morgans were lined up at the start line with 80 other participating cars and a brass band playing.
After a hearty breakfast, the briefing and some flag waving we were off on the Tour that took us through the magnificent roads and villages that make up this region.
Lunch was at a winery that sported amongst other things a couple of Royal Tennis Courts.
Around 5pm we made it back to Kyneton, changed and headed off to the Tour Dinner which was held in the Kyneton Town Hall. Here Ross and Jane were popular winners of the people choice award for the best Morgan.
Sunday we were off again to Gisborne and a Display that morning at the Gisborne Markets. All in all it was a marvellous weekend and the organisation was the best I have encountered. A big thank you is due to Dave Ellis and his Committee for putting on such an outstanding even and looking after us so well.
